Creative Hub Profile: CANactions

We're taking CANactions, Kiev’s international festival of architecture, to the European Hubs Forum. Find about about them and read Co-ordinations Manager Iryna Hodovanets' selections for cool spaces in Kiev.

CANactions is a not-for-profit organisation that runs free events open to the public. The festival’s main aims are:

-       To educate the professional community and general public about a way to align the Ukrainian view of architecture with the world view.

-       To create a platform to discuss the issues Kiev faces.

-       To expand the field in which to exchange ideas in.

-       To champion work that demonstrates a movement towards modern architecture.

For the last seven years, CANactions has been developing a powerful platform hosting a wide range of events such as lectures, conferences, workshops, masterclasses, national and international competitions and architours among others. They are establishing new activities each year.

CANactions festival attracts an annunal audience of over 3,500. All the events of the festival are open and free of charge.   Their most popular activities are their lecture series.  In the past seven years, they have hosted more than 70 public lectures from the best known Ukrainian and international experts in architecture, urbanism and architectural education.

Iryna Hodovanets from CANactions caught up with us recently to give her selections for organisations in cool Kiev:

“The work of our organization is focused on architecture and city development so two organizations which I think are carrying about the city and comfort of its citizens are GIZ and Kyiv Cyclists Association."
