More courses - Creative Communities Learning Lab

The Creative Communities Learning Lab is a series of dynamic and accessible online learning modules for creative and cultural professionals around the world, designed with input from creative hub leaders from Southeast Asia and the UK

Three courses were commissioned by the British Council in early 2021 with the help of creative hub leaders and experts on digital community management, monetising creative services, and bringing trainings online.

Following the positive feedback from learners, which showed great demand for online learning among arts professionals, we have awarded grants to creative hubs from the UK and SEA to produce their own online courses. Check them out below.

Advantage Creative (UK) started out as investors in Creative Industries startups – investing £5.4m into 55 companies over a period of 5 years through our Advantage Creative Fund. From these beginnings, we have developed a virtual hub that supports the creative entrepreneurs on our programmes. We support creative industries entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives with mentoring, coaching and business support all over the world.

Malayang Diwa Community Learning (Philippines) was established by Raquel Cabrieto last year as an initiative to provide online workshops for teachers on awareness-based leadership and well-being. Last May-July, Raquel organized a crowdfunding project through a local platform and collaborated with 3 local visual artists to develop a deck of cards for facilitators and individuals focused on themes around well-being.

Course: Responsible Design for Meaningful Experiences

How might we build a better world through design? This course contextualizes concepts of diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability within the design and creative process. The goal is for learners to place a high value on these issues, and to think of action steps to incorporate responsible design in their respective creative practices. It takes approximately 4 hours to go through this course.
