Call for proposals: Innovative governance in Southeast Asia’s creative economy

We are looking for a UK consultant to manage and deliver a new project on Innovative Governance in Southeast Asia’s Creative Economy.

The British Council is seeking to procure a consultant to help manage and deliver remotely the Innovative governance in Southeast Asia’s creative economy project. This project aims to support governments in Southeast Asia to increase intra-governmental collaboration in developing creative economies. This will be achieved through a needs assessment research, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building activities. Specifically, the project objectives are threefold:

  • To build a baseline of government needs, and gain a better understanding of their interests, challenges and opportunities for developing the creative economy.
  • To level the knowledge and understanding of different government agencies when it comes to creative economy development.
  • To strengthen the coordination and collaboration of government agencies who are supporting the creative economy.

The initiative is supported by the British Council’s Creative Economy programme, which aims to develop the capacity of creative entrepreneurs and policymakers to support sustainable creative economies in their countries.

The geographic scope of the project includes the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The consultant will be UK-based, but the proposal should include at least one research partner for each country.

The project period will be from 23 December 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Who can apply?

The call is open to independent consultants, organisations or Higher Education institutions based in the UK.

The applicant should identify and include one research partner for each SEA country in their proposal (four in total). The local research partner will act as the coordinator and advisor on country contexts and needs. Interested applicants should contact the British Council if they need to connect or be introduced to researchers in each SEA country.

What is the budget?

The total budget for this project is up to £45,000 (inclusive of VAT and other taxes).
