Our next Alt City announced!

We're delighted to announce that Istanbul will be our next Alt City! We're looking for 12 artists from Turkey to take part in the digital art residency and collaborate with UK digital arts group SquidSoup.

AltCity Istanbul is a partnership project by the British Council and Digi.logue, an interactive platform supported by Zorlu Holding and Zorlu Performing Arts Center to accelerate digital transformation. It is produced by Quays Culture, Manchester based digital arts producers.

This autumn, AltCity Istanbul will see UK digital artists SquidSoup creatively collaborating with artists from Turkey to explore uses of creative technology and to develop work that engages and speak to the fabric and communities of this exciting and dynamic city. 

AltCity is a digital art residency like no other, and we're looking for artists from Turkey to take part in and collaborate with SquidSoup in an experimental exploration of creative technology. Artists can either be establish or emerging, from any practise, and must have an interest in experiementing with digital art and making it part of their future practise.

AltCity Istanbul aims to be a catalyst for improving the awareness of digital art for artists in Turkey, and their ability to make and collaborate on digital art projects for now and the future. Artists will collaborative explore creative technologies, learn new methodologies and produce engaging artwork.

Artistic lead of the residency are Squidsoup, a UK based digital arts group, who specalise in digital media and light art.

Work from the residency will go on display at Digi.logue Space within Zorlu Performing Arts Center in Istanbul in November, and will also be featured as part of Lightwaves 2017 festival in Salford Quays in December 2017.
