Nikola is a German writer and editor who is constanly looking for new ways of communicating cultural issues online.
Nikola studied German, English and Comparative Literature in Tübingen, Norwich and Berlin. Since then, she has been writing for the cultural section of a series of newspapers, taken part at writers’ events and lectures, launched reading salons and started a non-commercial online literary magazine (www.schriftstelle.com), which ran from 2001 to 2003.
After a traineeship as an editor for the quarterly Kulturaustausch, published by the German Institute of Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), she worked as magazine editor for the European press review eurotopics. Since 2009, she is the project manager of Theatertreffen-Blog, a blog that runs during the the annual theatre festival Theatertreffen at Berliner Festspiele as part of their young arts' journalists' section. She is currently the co-director and co-editor of a bilingual literary web project called Los Superdemokraticos, a monthly collection of essays from Latin America, Spain, USA, Israel and Germany about global issues, financed by the Federal Agency for Civic Education.
Nikola also lectures at the Freie Universität's masters programme in literature and new media, and has published several books - two volumes of poetry, one volume of short stories, radio plays and a documentary novel.
She recently founded with two friends Glas und Bild, a space for 'sustainable working and thinking' that seeks to 'save resources (i.e. ideas, infrastructure, networks, experiences)' by sharing them with the local cultural community.
