As a cultural relations agency, the British Council seeks to engage the new generation of cultural leaders around the world in the discussion and development of common strategies to tackle global cultural issues. Cultural Leadership International (CLI) is a programme of activities designed to identify, celebrate and develop those who are addressing these questions through their work.
How?
The programme revolves around two key areas: management and leadership development. The former will focus on developing core cultural management skills through seminars and workshops. The latter will focus on identifying emerging cultural leaders to help them develop their international exposure and experience. Each participant in this second component will receive a small grant that will allow them to do a placement or undertake a short course in the UK.
Who?
The CLI 2011 programme will run in the following countries: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Palestine, Russia, South Africa, Syria, Turkey, UAE, the UK and Ukraine.
Cultural Management workshops
Cutural Management Workshops are open to any practitioner in the cultural field that is interested in developing their skills. Check with your local British Council to see whether there are any workshops running in your country.
The Leadership component
The Leadership Component is open to English-speaking, mid-career professionals with at least 3 years experience, who are able to demonstrate through their character, drive, abilities and achievements, their potential to influence and drive positive change in their sector.
